    excellent for what it is
Expect to spend some money to get the recommended storage materials, but the outcome is definitely worth it. If you’re buying this, regardless of the type of person you are, you are at least consciously committing to organizing your closet and taking better care of your things, so labels aside, the author has sage advice. Moreover, this organizational guide can help you regardless of your lifestyle and personal style, you just adapt what she is telling you.For example, I am a very busy, naturally-messy-but-trying-to-get-better, married twenty-something with way too many clothes and there’s no end in sight. While I don’t have time to spend so many hours building shelves and wall mounts and schlepping to IKEA to get various things, I did reserve a Saturday to go through all my clothes. I mean all of them. I threw them all on the bed and from there divided them into three piles: donate/consign, trash, keep. I then worked on one pile at a time. I took my trash pile and (because I’m an eco freak) looked to see if I could upcycle anything, everything else got pitched. I laundered and nicely folded the consignment/donation pieces and reserved the next morning for the local consignment shop. Everything they didn’t want, I donated. This way, you get a little change in your pocket for all the work you’re doing. After that I took the clothes I kept and laundered them all appropriately (she goes over this) and after each load itemized the clothing in an excel doc according to the storage location, and then color, brand, etc. Time-consuming yes, but god, its helpful. This whole thing took me two weekends, which is a pain in the tush, but honestly, it saves you so many headaches afterwards. Doing this also makes you keenly aware of what you need/have too much of/etc.

    Nothing New Here
If you are just beginning to try to organize your closet, this book would be fine. As others have said, it helps you get rid of what you ought to, and organize and store what is left. However, if you have read any other book on the topic, or seen any television segment on it, there is nothing new for you here.Donate or toss what you haven’t worn in a year, put some shelving in your closet, and organize your clothes by type (pants, skirts, tops, etc) and color. There you go!

    Disappointing
Maybe I misunderstood the concept of this book but I was hoping for some insight about how to acquire a better eye towards using items in my closet, putting things together that I hadn’t thought of, ideas for altering existing clothes to update them, adding accessories to existing items, etc. The book had a lot of very same-old, obvious information about sorting through your clothes, determining body type, what kind of hangers to use. Although the subtitle of the book is “organizing your closet with style” I really didn’t learn much about “shopping” my own closet or how to determine what is flattering on me. Really no new or exciting ideas or information at all. And the chapter on how to build your own shelves…seriously? Overall, a waste of time and money. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought it.

Good basis to start a wardrobe
Good ideas as far as basics. I did like the hints I got on how to be a bit more creative. Could be more international

Fun and practical book about re-organizing your closet and your wardrobe
This is a fun and practical guide to re-evaluating everything that is in your closet, possibly changing some of the storage design elements of your closet, re-organizing your clothes, shoes, purses, etc. Then the book explains how to develop a plan for maintaining (through buying and also weeding out) your wardrobe to have it be the best possible for you personally. For me this turned out to be a very practical book, and has somewhat changed my life. It was a real eye-opener for me when I realized all the clothes I was storing in my closet that were not the clothes that I actually wear. Plus I now shop with more precision and buy fewer items.

    Well…..
I’m sorry… I just didn’t get the point of this book. I thought it was going to be about tips on finding ways to mix and match things, but to be perfectly honest, it was so boring, I didn’t get very far in the book.

Love for the OCD in me
This book is great! I love the organizational idea. Makes clothes easier to find and easier to figure out what to get rid of too. BIG SELLING POINT for me was that this isn’t some ridiculous way to organize your closet that requires a stupid amount of upkeep and aggravation. Some organization books are full of things you have to do for upkeep that can only be done by people who have no jobs and no children or you’re just superwoman and don’t sleep. I love this. My son loves it and he keeps his closet neat because it makes his life that much easier.

    Disappointing
Although there were a couple helpful tidbits in this book, overall it was a waste of time. The advice is very basic and vaguely written–whole sections that don’t really say anything at all. I think she had a good magazine article here, which she tried to expand into a book. In the Kindle version, the form at the end (to catalogue your wardrobe) is fuzzy and unreadable.

If you are seriously thinking of getting to grips with the black hole that is ‘the wardrobe’ then get this book. It is clear, well written and full plans and ideas that are ‘doable’ for us mere mortals that have black holes instead of wardrobes. Making the most of limited space and getting your money to go further. Also includes some interesting fashion tips to pull a contemporary and flattering look together. It is a project, rather than a mere book. If you are already organized and have a spic and span wardrobe, (well good for you!), but you might still find good tips and suggestions to improve an already perfect system.

I will admit I bought this book on the spur of the moment, I was hoping to be amazed by some fresh, captivating ideas as how to go about organizing a wardrobe. This was unfortunately not the case, all you get is a long string of platitudes which, although well presented and laid out, leave you just none the wiser. If you are looking for some original input, this is not the book for you. Anybody with a hint of common sense would come to exactly the same conclusions. Why on earth would I want to read about some old, sensible housekeeping suggestions which my mum may as well have taught me? Disappointing.
